Our innate capacity to learn, to think, to create, and adapt endowed us with the evolutionary advantages necessary to become one of the most successful organisms on the planet.

learn, unlearn, and relearn distinguishes between a leader and a follower.

THE CAPACITY FOR NEW IDEAS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS THAT EVERY TEACHER SHOULD HAVE.

No matter how old you are and no matter how good you are at your job, it’s important to never stop growing and learning. Even the best teachers are constantly on the hunt for new ideas, new methods, and new ways of thinking to best serve their students.

To build growth mindset, you need to do these three things: learn, unlearn, and relearn.

What are the full meaning (learn, unlearn, and relearn.)

LEARN: LEARNING IS A NECESSITY THAT CAN NOT BE AVOIDED BY ALL TEACHERS.

It means teachers should have an open mind to update and adapt with the learner’s world. It means teachers need to collect information, browse new trends, and also seek how the students’ world change. It also means teachers should give the opportunity for students to give feedback, and teachers need to evaluate themselves how to improve their teaching and learning experiences. It also means teachers learn from one another, they actively ask and share with their fellow teachers to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

UNLEARN

To attain knowledge, add things every day. To attain wisdom, remove things every day.

Learning to let go of old and out of date beliefs and thoughts is one of the skills we all need to develop.

This means teachers should let go the old and traditional mind-set. Example is the idea of PREPARING STUDENTS FOR EXAM MIND SET

RELEARN means teachers should dare to open for something they have learned before, but maybe, it is undone or incomplete because you fail to make it. After you have unlearned something which means you have throw away your old thinking, it is important to relearn something new to replace your traditional thinking

The transformation for us to be globally  recognised is taking place too slowly or not at all. I believe the main reason for the “slowness” is that the philosophy of learn, unlearn and relearn is not happening.

If I may ask how many training, do you attend this year?

As the gate gatekeepers in the operational stages of the education transformation, *who are the teachers.* unlearning to be globally  recognised and up to date should be our goal

WHAT ARE THE THINGS TO UNLEARN

  1. Teachers have to learn the new era of teaching, which is digital, technology-based

Many new aspects of learning and teaching can be learnt through the Internet and example is this platform and many more you may belong to.

  1. Teachers have to remind themselves of their role to develop holistic individuals.

This is not something new

Teachers need to play a more holistic role in facilitating students to develop their

intelligence quotient (IQ)

emotional quotient (EQ)

spiritual quotient (SQ)

and creative/confidence/commuications quotient (CQ).

Above mcontradicts with the way some of us teach

From observation we mostly teach and preparing students to score in examinations. But by the time students enter university or start working, they would have high IQ, but very little interpersonal or intrapersonal skills (EQ, SQ and CQ) to face issues of life.

3 teachers need to relearn their roles.

There is no one size that fits all and educating students requires much creativity on the teachers’ part.

We talk so much about imparting higher order thinking skills in students, but such skills must come from teachers.

To be effective 21st century educators, teachers need to relearn the developmental stagies of a child psychology of young people, their interests and passion.

Most importantly, teachers need to wipe out their assumptions and biases about education and keep abreast with happenings around the globe.

That way, they will develop students who are not only knowledgeable locally but also stand tall with citizens of other nations.

Only teachers who learn, unlearn and relearn can make above changes

Finally, we need to remember that Learning is not just about acquiring knowledge; it is about learning when and how to unlearn and relearn.
